Israeli troops fired at Palestinians seeking food, killing 110 people
Over 110 Palestinians are dead and 760 more are injured after Israeli troops opened fire into a crowd of Palestinians searching for food in northern Gaza on Thursday, according to witnesses and Palestinian officials. This was the first major food delivery to Gaza in nearly a month. Half a million people in Gaza face starvation and all 2.3 million experience acute food shortage, according to the United Nations.
“You come here to grab a bag of flour and you are chased by these deadly machines,” said Noah Al-Shaghnobi, a local journalist in Gaza who witnessed the incident and posted a clip on Instagram.
A quarter of military families face food insecurity
More than 25% of U.S. military families face food insecurity, according to a report published by the RAND Corporation.
Most military families have not received the support needed due to a lack of cohesion and understanding about what counts as military income. Since the pandemic, higher food prices have widened the gap in food insecurity nationwide.
“No one risking their life serving our country should go hungry,” said Sara Jemo, director of the Fairchild Food Pantry. The pantry distributes around 1,500 items of food to 100 families a month.

Arizona bill would make shooting and killing migrants on property legal
A bill advancing in the Arizona Legislature would allow property owners to kill or threaten to kill people who cross their property to enter the U.S. illegally. Although the bill does not specify migrants, GOP Rep. Justin Heap said the bill’s purpose was to “assist” ranchers who live near the border with anybody trespassing near their homes.
Rep. Analise Ortiz, a Phoenix-area Democrat, told NBC News she believes the bill is disgusting and said it would allow an "open season on migrants."
Florida lawmakers may force cities and counties to ban public camping
Florida lawmakers will soon pass a bill that would make it illegal for unhoused people to camp on public property except where the government says it's okay. Some lawmakers say the bill fails to tackle the root causes of why unhoused people find themselves on the street.
"We have to have compassion and realize these are complex issues, and this bill doesn't address the nuance," State Rep Anna Eskamani (D), who argued against the bill told Fox 35 Orlando. “It just says, 'We don't want to see it.'"
